Youth need stability and certainty in Ukraine

Through the eyes of faith, we already see the young generation praising Jesus Christ, dedicating their lives to Him, and becoming His disciples.
The following update is from, Roman Vecherkovsky, SGA’s Regional Coordinator in Ukraine. He tells of the challenges of the war for the youth and how the church is providing a place of refuge and stability.

‘Right Way Club’, is held in a recreation park in Kyiv for teenagers aged 13-17. Through this club, believers are getting to know teenagers, building relationships with them, and leading them to Christ. Around 30 to 40 teenagers attend each meeting where they have interesting games, fellowship, up-to-date Bible subject discussion, and refreshments at the end.

'Right Way Club'

Roman shared about a teenager’s camp they had near Kyiv during August with 30 teenagers.  Following camp, an in-depth Bible study was formed with 15-20 teenagers meeting on Thursdays.  They also hold small discipleship group meetings with teenagers.

We see tremendous changes in the hearts and lives of these teenagers. Few of them have repented yet, but we believe some will be reconciled to Jesus Christ and get baptized soon.

Summer Camp

Roman and his team are planning a winter camp for teenagers. God is touching young lives through the special teenage outreaches. The following are a few testimonies of those who regularly visit the youth events.

Toma (girl). “This club has helped me a lot. The summer camp was the first one in my life, and I liked it a lot. Evening gatherings, delicious food, and prayers with the girls in our room I remember the most.”

Bodya (boy). “I don’t have a father, because he died. The club founders have replaced him. I lacked male companionship and influence a lot. Today, the Club Leaders are my good friends who support me. My favourite time is the discipleship time, when we talk about our lives, pray and read the Bible together.”

Lera (girl). “At first, I started visiting the club because of free delicious pizza and cola. But gradually, I began to like the atmosphere and attitude of the Club Leaders. Also, I like the subjects that are covered. This time has already changed my life for the better.”

Eldar (boy). “I was brought up in a Christian home, but I left God during my teenage years. I am happy I came across this Club. Today my life is different. I pray, and I willingly attend the Sunday worship meetings.”

Roman feels that these ministries are reaching young people who would be far removed from church.

He explained the values of this work:

‘This is valuable to us because it helps us to minister and to reach the young generation for Christ more effectively. Through the eyes of faith, we already see the young generation praising Jesus Christ, dedicating their lives to Him, and becoming His disciples.’
