Earlier this year 26 students gathered to begin their studies at the Mission School in Bălți, Moldova. Each of them has enrolled with a clear purpose to be better equipped for faithful, Christ-centred ministry.

Leadership training has always been central to the growth and health of the Church. Nowhere is this more evident than in the ministry of Slavic Gospel Association (SGA), whose commitment to preparing faithful workers continues to bear fruit across Central & Eastern Europe, and Central & Northern Asia.

As the ministry of Slavic Gospel Association continues to develop, we are excited to announce the appointment of two new members of staff. Both Junior Hilland and David Anderson bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to serving the Lord, and we believe they will greatly enhance our mission in advancing the Gospel and supporting believers in Central & Eastern Europe and Central & Northern Asia.

The book of James reminds us that at the heart of true and authentic faith is a call to care for some of the most vulnerable in our societies. Among them are widows – women who often carry heavy burdens of grief, loneliness, and material hardship.

Thanks to a car recently provided by SGA, the Gospel continues to be proclaimed in Ukraine.

At the end of November last year, the 16th consecutive group of students graduated from the Mission School in Balti, Moldova. Friends, family, and special guests gathered to give God praise for the past two years and to re-dedicate themselves to future service. As part of their graduation, each of the 26 students received digital and physical books to support their ongoing ministries, equipping them to serve effectively in their churches and communities.

Tabita House is not only a place of care – it is a place where the Gospel is faithfully shared through daily prayer, Bible study, and the loving witness of staff and visiting churches.

Partnership and support are the means by which SGA can maintain active involvement in such a wide spectrum of ministry across a vast mission field. The ‘Leadership Support’, aspect of our programme is therefore a vital component in our missionary operations.

On a dry December Sunday morning, the village of Bazna, nestled in the picturesque rolling hills of Sibiu County, Romania, became a focal point for hope and renewal. Historically known for its fortified church and mineral springs, Bazna is home to around 6,000 inhabitants. On this particular Sunday the air was filled with a palpable sense of thanksgiving as the community gathered for the reopening of the Baptist Evangelical Church.

‘From the cradle to the Cross’… ‘From Bethlehem to Golgotha’… These phrases resonate with the believer because they encapsulate the marvellous story of the grace of God in the Gospel of Jesus. He has provided a way back to Himself from the place of spiritual death and condemnation which is ours because of our sinfulness and rebellion.

The Good News Foundation (GNF), founded by Charles and Agnes Ficsor in 1990, has roots in decades of caring for the poor and sharing the Gospel. Their son Donat and his wife Barbara now lead and expand this work, with a strong focus on children and young people. Among their many ministries, several stand out.

“One of the most effective missionary strategies of our time.” That is how one national church leader recently described the support and partnership given to local missionaries and church planters as they seek to reach their own people with the Gospel. It is certainly not the only approach to mission, but in SGA’s regions of ministry, we have witnessed God’s blessing on it in remarkable ways.
