Cuhnesti is a village in Moldova, with a community of approximately 2,000 residents. The village has a small evangelical church of only 15 members, most of whom are elderly people.
Victor was born and raised in this village, and although he has not lived there for many years, he has never lost his desire to bring the Good News to the people of his hometown.
Victor writes:
I have always prayed for more people of my native village to come to know the Lord. Most people are afraid to accept the Gospel because they consider us a sect. When I saw children’s camps at my home church, I became passionate about organising such a camp in Cuhnesti.
At first, it seemed impossible. We had no suitable location, no leadership team, and no financial resources. So, throughout the winter and spring, I simply prayed day after day. Then God began to work. Visiting the local authorities and the school principal of Cuhnesti with this idea, to my great surprise, they invited us to hold the camp on the school grounds. Volunteers from my church, Ark Church in Balti, formed a wonderful team, ready to serve the children in Cuhnesti. But we still had no funding, so I continued praying. Then, at the beginning of June, Peter Mihalchiuk, SGA coordinator in Moldova, informed me that our friends from the United Kingdom had provided the funds needed for this camp.
Originally, we planned for no more than 90 children. However, more than 100 came on the first day, and 118 attended on the second day. Children who had not registered came to us in tears, begging to be allowed to stay.
You should have seen the joy on the children’s faces. For me, there is no greater blessing than watching children rejoice, hearing them pray, and listening to them sing Christian songs. One of the greatest joys was seeing so many parents walk through the doors of the church for the very first time on the closing day of camp. They came to watch their children present songs and Bible verses and stayed to hear the preaching of God’s Word.
Victor is already praying that next year the team will once again be able to bring the Gospel and the joy of Christ to the children of his home village.
