Derek Maxwell

About Derek
Before joining SGA in 2002, Derek pastored two congregations in Northern Ireland. He first served as Regional Representative in Northern Ireland, until his appointment as Field Director in 2004. In 2009 Derek was appointed as General Director, and he is committed to maintaining the mission’s Biblical ethos and vision of reaching Slavic nations with the Gospel. He also engages in extensive deputation work throughout Northern Ireland and in other parts of the British Isles. Derek is married to Carole and they have two children.

Mark Foster

About Mark
Mark is married to Margaret and they have 3 children, Sarah, Joshua and Joel. Following university and Bible College studies Mark entered pastoral ministry for 10 years in a church on the Wirral and then joined the staff of SGA in 2009. His responsibilities are varied and include preaching and lecturing throughout Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and representing SGA in North West England and North Wales.

About Clive
After working on a voluntary basis with London City Mission, Clive studied at Moorlands College for three years, specialising in Pastoral Studies. Following his time at college, he married Margaret, and they now have five children. After 11 years as pastor in North Devon, Clive joined the ministry of SGA in September 2014 as a Regional Representative for the south east of England. He also lectures in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

About Trevor
After a period of 10 years serving within the N. Ireland Civil Service, followed by training at the Irish Baptist College, Trevor and his wife, Christine went to serve as missionaries in Peru which lasted for 26 years. Trevor then spent almost 4 years with One Mission Society in N. Ireland as Area Representative and Personnel Officer. In September 2022, he joined the staff of SGA as the Regional Representative for Ireland where he shares about what God is doing in the Slavic nations. Trevor and Christine have two grown-up children, Rebecca and Andrew.

Pete graduated from medical school in 1991 and after a few years in hospital medicine has spent the last 27 years working as a GP in Somerset. He has also served as an elder in his home church. He joined SGA in December 2023 as the Regional Representative for the south west of England. He is married to Kaye and they have three grown up children, Hannah, Ruth and Sam.

On completing his studies at the Irish Baptist College Billy worked with Irish Baptist Missions for a number of years in the late 1980’s early 90’s before entering the Pastoral Ministry. Following his retirement from Aughton Park Baptist Church after 25 years of ministry he joined the staff of SGA to work as a regional representative. He had also previously served on the Council of SGA and was Chairman of the Council for several years. Billy is married to Roberta, they have been blest with 5 children and currently 2 grandchildren.

Lisa is married to Chi Wah, a part-time pastor of a local village church. Although she trained as a secondary school science teacher Lisa has spent the last fourteen years home educating their five children. She loves being involved in the women’s and children’s ministry in her church and in her spare time enjoys going for country walks and reading.

Hailing from the East of Germany, Annina studied European Studies in Germany and Poland before moving to the UK. She now lives in the West Midlands with her husband Joshua. Prior to joining SGA in 2022, Annina worked at a primary school. She now supports the work at the SGA office in Rugby on a part-time basis.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Susan has worked in schools in both the Philippines and England. She came to the UK in 2006 with her husband Martin and three children. She is now a grandmother of three and works part time as an administrative assistant at SGA while still teaching part time at Sophia Christian Learning Centre. She is an avid baker and enjoys going on long walks.

Rachael Winther

About Rachael
Following seven years serving in the Civil Service as a Statistician, Rachael took an extended career break to raise her four children. During this time Rachael and her husband, Nick, served in two church plants in South-East London. On moving to Rugby in 2018, she returned to the workplace, first in a local secondary school working in data and timetabling and now as Administrator and Finance Co-Ordinator for SGA. Rachael has overall responsibility for the management of the SGA Head Office in Rugby, including finance.

A former secondary school-teacher, John entered ministry with the Association of Irish Baptist Churches in 1974 as an evangelist and church planter before he became Director of Studies and Lecturer at the Irish Baptist College. John joined the staff of SGA in 2007 and served as Director of Field Ministries until 2019, when he reduced his role in the Mission to part-time. He is married to Dorothy and they have four sons and one daughter, all married.

After studying Physics at university, Andrew spent 25 years as a secondary school Science teacher. He has many years’ experience in church leadership, serving as an elder in his home church. Andrew joined the staff of SGA in 2012 and his responsibilities include representing SGA in North England and North Wales with occasional preaching and lecturing in Eastern Europe. He is married to Jan and they have three grown up sons, and grandchildren.

Jean and I have been married since December 1978. We have three grown up children and a growing number of grandchildren. I taught Mathematics at a Glasgow school for nearly 40 years before retiring in December 2016. I am currently studying two days a week at Cornhill Scotland, with the aim to teach God’s word more faithfully in small groups in our Church. We are members of The Tron Church in Glasgow.

I was born and brought up near Wrexham in North Wales. I was converted at the age of sixteen, and have worked in engineering for 34 years. I am married to Mary and we have a grown up son David. Mary and I are members at Borras Park Evangelical Church Wrexham, where I serve as an Elder and Missionary Secretary. I became a Voluntary Representative for SGA in 2011. We have a prayer group that meets in the Wrexham area on a quarterly basis.

Tracy and I have been married since October 1981. We attend Reeth Evangelical Congregational Church in the Yorkshire Dales, where I am a deacon. I have been a UCCF staff-worker, an RE teacher and a prison chaplain and now work part-time as a Free Church Prison Chaplain and a Prison Ministry Associate with Daylight Christian Prison Trust. It is a privilege to serve SGA as a voluntary representative in North Yorks and the north-east.

Due to the growth of our field ministry, we decided to appoint national believers to co-ordinate SGA’s ministry in their respective countries, rather than employing more UK-based personnel. We believe that this is not only efficient, but good stewardship of our resources.

About Peter
Peter is a long-standing friend and associate of SGA and its ministry in Moldova. From his previous church he encouraged a programme of church planting, encouraging and mentoring young men in ministry, a role which he continues to fulfil to this day. He now pastors the Ark Church in Balti.Peter serves as SGA’s Regional Co-ordinator for Moldova, overseeing the Mission’s various ministries including the Mission School in Balti, the provision of transport for missionaries, the Houses of Prayer project, and financial support for those in need.

From the early years of SGA’s involvement in ministry in Romania, Oni has been a partner in the work of the Gospel.He has a vision for church planting, and from his home church in Arad, he has travelled extensively in the country, encouraging and supporting young pastors to establish a Gospel witness in spiritually needy communities.Oni has given SGA wise counsel and advice about the establishment of Mission Schools in his region and beyond.As Regional Co-ordinator his role involves overseeing SGA’s activities such as Leadership Training, Leadership Support, and the Widows’ Project, throughout the whole country.

About Roman
Following theological training Roman was called of God to church planting ministry in the Perm region of Russia. He, with several colleagues, had the joy of seeing an initial group of about twelve grow to 120.After almost 20 years there Roman answered a ‘Macedonian call’ from brothers in his home city of Mariupol, East Ukraine, to return there to pastor a large church in the city. The war had already erupted in that region, but convinced that this was God’s will, he with his family answered the call.Roman oversees SGA’s work in Ukraine, including Leadership Training, Leadership Support, Houses of Prayer, and various humanitarian projects for needy and vulnerable people in difficult circumstances.

Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kateryna, who is from Kharkiv, has continued to serve with humanitarian and medical response projects in Kharkiv and other war-struck cities. Kateryna is now part of SGA’s team in Ukraine.
