The New Casa Filip – One Year On

Far more than board and lodgings at bargain prices, it is the spiritual care that Casa Filip offers which marks it out as special.
Opened by its Director, Violeta Goron, the new Casa Filip in Cluj, Romania, began receiving guests in October 2023.

One year on it continues to provide accommodation for those receiving treatment for cancer in nearby hospitals. The miraculous story of how it came about proves that there is nothing God cannot do, and the care that is provided is a wonderful testimony to all His loving-kindness.

If unable to contribute to the cost of their stay, guests are accommodated free of charge, but even those who do have the financial means to pay are asked for no more than €8 a night – a sum that, given it includes a hot meal, compares astonishingly favourably to the €50 which local hotels charge.

Casa Filip in Cluj Napoca

Far more than board and lodgings at bargain prices, it is the spiritual care that Casa Filip offers which marks it out as special. While you do not have to be Christian to stay there, Casa Filip is, nonetheless, unashamedly Christian.

Guests are made aware of how Casa Filip came about through the suffering of Violeta’s young husband who, even though he ultimately died of cancer, knew and felt God’s constant love for him.

Regular talks are given on how to find hope, not only in disease, but beyond even death itself, and the question of why some suffer as they do is sensitively discussed in a way that gently leads guests to Jesus.

Such events, along with the personal testimonies of individual staff, have led many to be exposed to the Gospel and some have started attending church on a regular basis.

Pray for this SGA-supported ministry – that there would be many who, having received Christ, would learn to rely, not on themselves, but on God who raises the dead. [2 Corinthians 1:9]
