Summer is an exciting time for school holidays with the long-awaited camps for children and their families. Almost 20 years ago the church in Sliven, in eastern Bulgaria, built a modest Camp Centre in the town of Kableshkovo, just 15km from the Black Sea.
Over the years the Centre has developed slowly to having a kitchen, a small meeting area, outdoor recreational space, and four rooms and three caravans! This allows the centre to accommodate around 25 campers, with the possibility of hosting up to 30 people if one more room could be finished.
The purpose of the Centre is not just to provide a place for families to come together to enjoy a short holiday and have fun, but somewhere to hear God’s Word and sing His praises. A place to learn more about the God of creation and His amazing love and purpose for everyone.
SGA sponsored worker Pastor Stoyan Slavchev, and his wife Zhani, have added this ministry to their already extensive workload, believing this to be a valuable resource for families from the surrounding Roma community. “We are excited about this ministry and thank God for all He has provided so far. But, for us the greater joy is sharing God’s love and His Word with all our friends who come. Many tell us of the great blessing the Centre has been to them.”
This small Camp Centre is also used throughout the year for youth seminars, training programmes for church leaders, as well as a place for spiritual growth, personal development and for sharing your faith with others.
Please pray for God’s provision and protection for this ministry so that many more would not just enjoy their time at the Camp Centre, but that their lives would be transformed for God’s glory.
