Planting Churches in Slovakia

Local workers planting churches for the furtherance of the Gospel is important in the work of SGA.
At the recent Mission Focus meetings in Northern Ireland those attending had the joy of hearing from Tomas Henzel as he reported what God is doing in Slovakia, and how the support of SGA is so important in the development of that work, including the planting of churches.

The capital city, Bratislava, has been described as the place where young Slovaks go to ‘escape’ from religion, and so the need there is great.  In order to reach those people, Tomas, while pastoring Paradox Church, also leads a programme with the purpose of planting further churches.

One example of this is the proposed church plant into Petrzalka, a large housing estate of over 100,000 people on the south side of the Danube River in Bratislava.  Over the past seven years Tomas has worked with another young man, Martin Kascak, who was a part of the original core group which planted Paradox Church.

Subsequently Martin has received training in how to plant a church and is now in the process of becoming the first Church Planter, alongside his wife Lucia, sent out directly from Paradox.

This is planned to commence in September 2026 with a core team of 20 people – to date 10 people have committed to help establish this work.

Local workers planting churches for the furtherance of the Gospel is important in the work of SGA.  Through supporting Tomas in training and equipping men for this vital work we are seeing the fruit of that labour in Slovakia.

Please pray for Tomas, his wife Silvia, and their family, as they serve in Bratislava. Pray also that others, like Martin, will respond to the need of planting more churches for the advancement of the Gospel in Slovakia.
