Building for the Future
A planned construction project is well underway, with the first building almost complete, and only the final touches needed. The local municipality has also committed to providing the utility connections and constructing the access road to the building.
They are now seeking to secure the remaining co-financing for the second building which will incorporate the inpatient units for adults and children, day centres and educational centre.
Beyond the building project, Hospice Emanuel continues to provide compassionate care to cancer patients and their families. Every day, the team has the privilege of offering not only medical and emotional support, but also spiritual care.
Recently, the team witnessed a very special moment of God’s grace. The husband of a hospice supporter, who has faithfully brought a monthly donation from her pension for many years, was admitted to their care. He did not know God personally, but she had prayed for him faithfully for years. During his illness, as he was facing advanced cancer, he was visited by one of the hospice doctors and placed his faith in God. He was later visited by a pastor and, shortly afterwards, peacefully passed into eternity.
This is a moving reminder that, alongside caring for people’s physical needs, God gives opportunities to minister to their hearts and souls. Hospice Emanuel is deeply thankful for the continued interest, prayers, and support of SGA and its supporters.
