Recently Valerie Antoniuk, President of Ukraine’s Baptist Union, spoke of how some of the new churches planted in the most-affected eastern side of his country following the start of hostilities in 2014 had subsequently closed following Russia’s full-scale invasion, when their ministers had been forced to relocate.

The vast region of Russia and Northern Kazakhstan that makes up Siberia may be a long way away, but this multiethnic part of the world still needs to hear the Gospel. It needs missionaries who are trained in the Word of God, too.

Three new Hope Centres are currently under construction in Far East Russia. Because of the region’s challenging weather conditions, building work can only be undertaken during a few short months of the year but, following the providentially timely provision of funds made available by SGA, it is hoped that all three will be finished by September, allowing them to be used to serve the people of Ola (Kolyma), Krest Khakut and Neryungri.

While this is a time for reflecting on God’s faithfulness and provision over 75 years, we also praise Him for opportunities to expand the ministry.
