Ministering To Body & Soul

The medical teams bring help to the people where they live, with the aim of healing those who are physically unwell, and also bringing to them the message of spiritual healing.
The health services are constantly in our news bulletins today, with facilities and staff availability stretched to the limit. It is easy for us to forget that most people in many parts of Eastern Europe have no access to the level of care we expect here.

In north Moldova several teams of Christian doctors and nurses offer a lifeline to poor villagers for whom a visit to the doctor, or the purchase of medicine, is beyond their financial resources, or just not possible because of distance and difficulty in travel.

One doctor comments:

The most difficult thing is that they can get help only in district centres that are usually far away. Most people do not have personal transport and they cannot get there to visit a hospital.

Using the Ultrasound machine

The medical teams bring help to them where they live, with the aim of healing those who are physically unwell, and also bringing to them the message of spiritual healing – the forgiveness of sins and new life through faith in the Lord Jesus. They minister to both body and soul!

SGA has been involved for some years in the support of this work. The medical teams give their time and their expertise freely, and SGA supports them by financing their travel and providing the medicines without which the ministry could not take place.

Treatment and medicines are offered for a wide range of illnesses, including common ailments such as colds, flu, and the current Covid19 issues, but also more serious cardiovascular conditions, and stomach and intestinal problems for which the provision of an Ultrasound machine with help from SGA, has proved extremely helpful.

Reports from the doctors and nurses make both sobering and thrilling reading – sobering because of the extent of the need in impoverished village communities, thrilling because of the blessing of God on lives.

Care and treatment given to those who are ill bring healing of the body, and open up opportunities for the sharing of God’s message of healing for their souls. God has been pleased to bless many families and individuals through this ministry.

Sergey Shalinsky, a qualified nurse and graduate of our Moldova Mission school shares two thrilling stories.

DAVID

David was in a severe car accident, his chances for life were minimal; part of his brain was removed, but the Lord gave him life, which served as salvation for his soul.

He repented and became a member of the church. He takes medication regularly. With the help of SGA, we provided him with the next six months’ worth of medication that is vital for him.

VALENTINA

Valentina is a Christian… She recently underwent surgery, and spent all her small savings on it.

She needs daily medication, which we helped her buy. Her daughter, Irina, has a severe disability… doctors said that the child would live for about six years and medicine would not be able to help her… Valentina has been giving much–needed love to her daughter for 23 years now.

We are glad to supplement her love, by paying for medicines for a supportive course of treatment.

One of the medical team summed up the greatest need of their ministry: ‘Keep praying for us!’
