the inside story

Joy of Christmas

This project offers believers a great opportunity to bring the ‘Joy of Christmas’ to children and their families.
How much does it cost to take a Christmas gift to one child - a child who might never receive a gift without our help? Children wait eagerly for that one day in the year when the miracle happens as someone brings them a Christmas gift!
Receiving their 'Joy of Christmas' boxes

The churches in Central Asia are preparing for this great event, as they purchase gifts including toys, sweets, food, etc. All will be placed in a specially prepared box with a copy of God’s Word.

This project offers believers a great opportunity to bring the ‘Joy of Christmas’ to children and their families. This year’s ambitious plan is to provide 21,000 Christmas packages all over Central Asia.

For many children like Arsen, this will be their only Christmas gift. Due to difficult circumstances and few job opportunities, family members are often forced to live apart. Some of the most wonderful moments of life for children are when they can hug their dad tightly and tell him how much they love him!

Arsen, who is 7 years old, is not able to do that as his dad lives very far away in Russia. He had to go to Russia to find a job so he could provide for his family. Arsen lives with his mother, brother and grandmother in a remote village on the border with Afghanistan.

Arsen

He had never received a Christmas gift and had never heard of the amazing story of the Saviour’s birth. Christmas meant nothing to him, but that was all about to change!

When he received his gift through the ‘Joy of Christmas’ project, he immediately opened the box.  When he saw the banana, he peeled it at once and began to eat it with great delight. He was so excited to receive his first Christmas gift.

With the Gospel literature inside and the story of Christ’s birth explained, Arsen not only received his first gift but more importantly, heard about Jesus coming into the world to be the Saviour
