Ben Faragau’s association with SGA dates back to 1972. Fifty-three years on, the partnership remains a strong one.
Living in Cluj, a city in northwest Romania, Ben has taught at Monday night Bible studies for students. He is constantly writing new Bible commentaries, revising those already published, and producing Bible Study guides to accompany the commentaries.
With still no thought of retiring, Ben is currently working on a commentary on 1 John, the latest of the now fifty commentaries which he has completed. Add to these the seventeen other Christian books he has authored, and it is easy to appreciate the importance of his ministry in a country where, at the time of the 1989 Romanian revolution, there was little Christian literature available to assist those seeking a deeper understanding of the Scriptures.

What makes this story even more remarkable is that Ben suffers with poor eyesight – so poor in fact that he is blind in one eye and has significantly impaired vision in the other. Some time ago Ben was told by an ophthalmologist that, within six months, he would be completely blind in his partially functioning eye too. But fourteen years later God continues to graciously give him sufficient sight to enable him to continue his work – a work that he delights to do for he has seen the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ. [2 Corinthians 4:4]

SGA has enjoyed an amazing partnership with this true servant of the Lord. We have been able to support him with further theological studies in Belfast, and in his ongoing ministry of communicating Gospel truths through Bible commentaries and study guides. His Bible study materials are used in Baptist churches across Romania.
The Mission considers its relationship with Ben as one of its most precious enduring partnerships. As SGA celebrates 75 years of God’s faithfulness, Ben has walked with us for two-thirds of that time – to God be the glory!
