Daniel Cioban is the pastor of Betel Church, MediaÈ™, Romania, where ministries supported by SGA have been making a difference in the surrounding towns and villages.
In recent months more than 40 widows have been given both practical help and financial assistance which, along with prayerful support, has reassured them that God has not forgotten them.
The recently reopened church in Bazna, led by SGA sponsored worker Jonatan Moldovan, was greatly encouraged by 75 children attending their holiday Bible school and the 100 children who subsequently attended Christmas events. One lad, called Andrei, was so taken by what he learnt about Jesus that he said he wanted to keep coming back to learn more.
The church has also reached out to those in the local deaf community who, as well as feeling less isolated, are discovering how sign language can successfully convey the good news of the Gospel.
In addition to bringing encouraging news of the advance of God’s Kingdom in Romania, Daniel shared from the Scriptures at this year’s Mission Focus meetings in England and Wales.
Drawing on Matthew 9:36–38, he reminded congregations that there are many in our communities that need to hear the Gospel. While there is a longing in their hearts they have yet to realise that only Jesus can truly satisfy.
However, before we can expect others to turn to Christ, our hearts must first be filled with compassion for the lost. We must never forget that missionary work begins with believers on their knees, asking the Lord of the harvest to send out more Gospel workers.
Please pray for Daniel and the ministries he is involved in, and for the ever-growing Church in Romania.
