The construction work at Casa Filip in Cluj, Romania, is progressing very well. A recent report informed us that the doors and wooden floor had arrived, and the tiles were being installed in the bathrooms. Bedroom furniture has been sourced and the painting of walls will soon commence.
The Casa Filip team request prayer that their strength will be renewed so that they will be a blessing to the many cancer patients who need their support. People who come to them not only suffer from physical pain, but also spiritual and emotional. Many testify about how well they feel in Casa Filip, due to the love and affection they feel there. One lady, who recently stayed there, wrote:
‘I was left alone in a large and unknown city, but I met a lot of love and warmth here at Casa Filip. In the fight with this ugly disease, I saw that I am not alone. I felt kindness and encouraging words here. I could call this place “home”’.
Words like these lift the hearts of the staff and encourage them. They express their appreciation to all who support them in this amazing ministry:
‘We would like you to know that all this would not have been possible without kind and generous people like you. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support given to these hard-pressed people’.
One young man has been staying at Casa Filip, suffering with nasopharyngeal cancer. He is feeling very weak after 30 radiotherapy sessions. His taste buds have gone, and he can no longer swallow any solids. He can only eat soups and liquids, and his weight loss is concerning. He is feeling depressed and is very anxious about his failing health. Please pray for him and others in similar circumstances who are suffering so much. Pray that they might come to know the comfort and hope of Christ in the midst of great trials, and pray for the team at Casa Filip as they provide essential care and support for these patients.
Casa Filip was born out of tragic circumstances when Filip Faragau, a young man and good friend of SGA, passed away in 2016 after a long battle with cancer. His widow, Violeta, carried out Filip’s desire to have affordable accommodation available for cancer patients and their families in Cluj. It has become one of SGA’s special Phoebe projects, receiving substantial funding every year. If you would like to hear more about these projects, do consider inviting your local Phoebe Rep to share with the women at your church. Details can be found on the website.
Pray for Violeta and her team as they minister to terminally ill people. May these suffering, often devastated people, find hope in the Lord and strength in His power through the ministry of the Casa Filip team.
