the inside story

A Divine intervention needed!

Violeta Goron founded ‘Casa Filip’ [Filip’s House], a place where patients undergoing cancer treatment can stay along with their relatives. This wonderful facility is located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
Casa Filip is named after her late husband, Filip Faragau, who died of cancer in August 2016. Recently, Violeta told about the huge task of renovating a large old house which they purchased, and the construction of a new building in which are fifteen bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

In addition to this, the team was managing two other accommodation blocks where 222 sick people were staying. Further complications were created by the consequences of the war in neighbouring Ukraine, including the huge rise in price of the necessary building materials. Violeta acknowledges the Lord’s help with the many challenges along the way.

We look back on last year and feel so grateful to have seen God involved so much in our ministry. We have seen miracle after miracle, and we are so deeply grateful. From a human perspective, the task in front of us was impossible. So, we were left to depend on God and His intervention.

She outlined how they had to take ‘steps of faith’, and how the Lord opened the way before them, sending the right people and resources required. One business donated over half the necessary exterior insulation materials. Another company donated all the windows, while another gave all the flooring, and yet there was more! This project touched the hearts of many generous people, especially in a time when costs were at their highest.

Already people like Gabriella (pictured with Violeta), ill with breast cancer, have been so blessed with Casa Filip accommodation. She spent 6 weeks there recovering from her radio-therapy treatment. When interviewed, she said: ‘I thank you for Casa Filip, for (SGA’s) financial support and for everyone’s kindness and understanding’.

Like so many who stay in this wonderful affordable home, she is deeply thankful for the peaceful environment where she can recover with supportive friends and be encouraged by people going through the same traumatic experiences. It is the prayer of Violeta and her team that people like Gabriella will come to a living faith in Jesus Christ.

Violeta finishes her newsletter expressing her gratitude to God and all who have supported this project.

Today as I entered the old, renovated house, where my office is now, I almost started crying. Because it is such a miracle that we are here, and such a miracle that next to this house there is a new big beautiful one that six months ago did not exist. It is a miracle and words are not enough to express my joy. Thank you so much for supporting us in prayer and financially this year. Only together we arrived where we are today. You were God’s miracle for us, and we are very grateful!
