Gospel Hope at Summer Camp

An SGA mission team helped a local church in Hungary share the Good News
Church-based summer camps remain a vital way to share the Gospel across the regions where SGA serves. Despite many challenges, this ministry reaches thousands of children.

This summer an SGA mission team travelled to Hungary and were involved in a church-based children’s camp. The team worked in the village of Orgovany, alongside the Good News Foundation, to deliver a five-day children’s camp from 9am until 4pm each day.  As time was spent with the children, teaching choruses, doing craft, playing games and teaching English, the primary focus was to share the Gospel.

It was a real encouragement for the team to see the children engage in each of the activities.  Throughout the week the team heard numerous reports from parents of how the children were enjoying the camp. One mum simply messaged – “Best camp ever!”

One story which really touched hearts was of a little girl whose mother had sadly passed away just a few weeks before the camp.  Her father is not a Christian but sent his daughter along each day.  Camp finished with a parents’ meeting where the children took part, singing the choruses and using the English they had been taught.  Once again the opportunity came to share the Gospel, not only with the children, but with the parents also, including the man who had sadly lost his wife a few weeks before.  It was a joy for the team to then see both the little girl and her father return to attend the church service that Sunday.

Please pray that in the midst of such a sad circumstance the hope of the Gospel will be received gladly. Pray that the other parents and children would also come to know Christ.
