Reaching Hungary's Young People
The Good News Foundation (GNF), founded by Charles and Agnes Ficsor in 1990, has roots in decades of caring for the poor and sharing the Gospel. Their son Donat and his wife Barbara now lead and expand this work, with a strong focus on children and young people. Among their many ministries, several stand out.
Recognising the need to reach a new generation, Donat and Barbara obtained permission to translate Creation magazine into Hungarian and distribute it widely. The magazine offers a clear biblical perspective on origins in a culture where many young people hear only secular explanations. One young reader shared, “I’ve been following Jesus for three years, but until now I never believed the first pages of the Bible. Since reading Creation magazine I believe the entire Scriptures!”
Building on this foundation, GNF created the “Marine Marvels Museum” — a carefully researched exhibition that helps open doors into schools. Classes visit to explore the wonders of God’s creation, often hearing biblical truth for the first time. Over 500 people attend annually. As one teacher said, “Some of my pupils had never heard such important facts until today. I’m so glad I brought my class.”
GNF also publishes and distributes thousands of books for young people – from novels and biographies to creation-themed resources – and shares them through school visits and camp meetings. Their vision is simple: to see a new generation in Hungary taught, strengthened, and standing firm in Christ. Pray for this vital ministry in a spiritually needy nation.
