OMSK: AN EXCITING NEW PARTNERSHIP

The vast region of Russia and Northern Kazakhstan that makes up Siberia may be a long way away, but this multiethnic part of the world still needs to hear the Gospel. It needs missionaries who are trained in the Word of God, too.

Situated in Omsk, the Western Siberian Bible College (WSBC) is linked to the Almaty Bible Institute in Kazakhstan. Currently overseen by Ivan Makrov, and drawing students from all over Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, it runs a
five-year bachelor-level course in Christian Leadership which has been equipping new church leaders in multicultural evangelism, church planting and Christian counselling for over 20 years. Today, however, with older preachers reaching retirement, there is a growing need for more young men to be trained in mission so that those inhabiting this vast expanse of Northern Asia can, despite its remote location, be reached for Christ as well.

Past graduates are already involved in church planting and evangelism throughout Siberia and have even undertaken mission trips into Mongolia. With 80 students currently enrolled, and 20 new students expected to begin training soon, it seems clear that WSBC is a key part of God’s plan for reaching Siberia with the Gospel.

This is why SGA, in its 75th anniversary year, is now partnering with WSBC, committed to providing vital financial support for their bachelor-level course for the next five years. We commend this new partnership to your prayers, and trust the Lord will use this ministry for the expansion of the Gospel in this needy part of the world.
