Getting Men Moving in Far East Russia

The problem of transportation facing pastors and evangelists across the regions where SGA serves is not merely an inconvenience – it is a great hindrance to effective ministry.
SGA-sponsored missionary pastor, Alexander Balagansky located in Ulan-Ude city, Buriatia, Far East Russia, requested and received financial help to replace his 25-year-old vehicle which had clocked up 700,000km.

He undertakes long trips to places like Kyren, 500 km from Ulan-Ude, where there is a small group of believers in need of support. There is a vital need to evangelize there, where more than half the population is of the Buryat people group. Alexander also ministers in the town of Orlyk, 800km from Ulan-Ude, among the Soyot people group.

Recently Alexander was able to fly to Khabarovsk, where he purchased a Nissan X-Trail manufactured in 2010. He travelled back to Ulan-Ude, a long journey of 2800km. En route the team visited the remotest village in the Okinsky district of Buriatia. They were unable to reach it earlier in the year because there was no bridge. Now with temperatures having plummeted to – 35C, the river was frozen, so the crossing could be made.

The car performed well, climbing on icy roads without any problems. Alexander and the team made the long hazardous journey of 1950 km from Ulan-Ude to Alag-Shulun, where people heard the Gospel for the first time.

Alexander is very grateful for the provision of this vehicle. With your help the Mission was able to make a difference to the ministry of this faithful servant. Finance for the purchase of vehicles enables dedicated and gifted men like Alexander to have more time and opportunity to care for their people and reach others with the Gospel.
