President of Odessa Theological Seminary, Oleksandr Geychenko, writes:
“Many months ago, we decided to purchase a large generator to provide electricity for the seminary in case of power outages. The cost was substantial, and we were preparing for a long journey of fundraising. Surprisingly, thanks to our partners, it took only several days to raise the necessary amount. We were able to purchase the generator. Praise the Lord!
About half a year ago, when Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian power stations and infrastructure became more severe and systematic, we realised it would be wise to prepare for the coming academic year and purchase enough fuel for the generator.
Once again, the calculated cost was very high. We shared this need, and once again—within just hours—we received news that the entire amount would be covered. So both the generator and the fuel were provided very quickly. At that point, one of my colleagues said, “This cannot be without a reason. We are going to have a very hard winter ahead.”
It turned out he was right. This winter has been one of the coldest in Ukraine for decades and with Russia’s targeting of electrical and heating infrastructure, many Ukrainians are suffering. Most have electricity for only several hours a day; many go without power for days. People are simply surviving in cold apartments without heat and electricity.
If our need for a generator and fuel had not been met, the seminary would not have been able to function during this academic year. God knew the need, and He met it quickly through our partners. Moments like this lead me to praise God not only for meeting our basic needs, but also for the way He is building His Church—using its different parts to make His mission possible. I sincerely thank you for your prayers and support.”
