For some years now, SGA has sponsored the Bible Correspondence School in Central Asia. Around 500 students are currently enrolled and among those now benefiting from its sound Biblical teaching is Sofia from Uzbekistan.
Brought up in an unbelieving home, Sofia learned much concerning various religions, and a great deal about all kinds of scientific advances. However, it was not until her brother invited her to a church which he had started attending, that she discovered the answer to the most important question of all. Although initially skeptical of the Christian faith, the Lord used the preaching of His Word and her own reading of the Bible, to open her heart, to desire more of God’s Word so that she could know better the One who was speaking to her through it.
She began studying with the Bible Correspondence School and as a result, has noticed how she has been changed by what she has learned. Today Sofia is part of the church worship team, teaches children in the Sunday school, and during the summer serves as a team member on various youth camps.
What is more, she enthusiastically shares the Gospel with those she knows, including her 93 year old neighbour, who frequently visits her home to discuss literature and the meaning of life. Initially this highly educated lady would simply nod thoughtfully as Sofia spoke to her about Jesus but then, after Sofia had visited her and prayed for her over a long period of time, she announced that she too had come to faith in Christ. Praise God for His amazing grace.
Through the Bible Correspondence School God is raising up workers for the harvest fields. Pray for others like Sofia who have been equipped through these courses and are now reaching their communities in Muslim-dominated Central Asia.
