Yuri Marenchuk is a good example of the kind of leader Almaty Bible Institute (ABI) is helping to equip.
As pastor of a church in Northern Kazakhstan, Yuri leads a congregation of nearly 100 people while also supporting several small village churches. Alongside these responsibilities, he is investing in theological training through ABI, one of SGA’s long-standing ministry partners in the region.
As a younger pastor, he has helped develop new ministries and outreach opportunities, and is encouraging the church to become increasingly active in sharing Christ’s love. One such example is providing school clothing and supplies for needy families. This created opportunities to demonstrate Christian compassion and build connections within the community. He also regularly travels to support smaller village churches. Through preaching, pastoral care and practical help he is strengthening fellowships that might otherwise struggle to continue.
Reflecting on his studies, Yuri speaks warmly of the impact ABI is having on his ministry. One lesson that has particularly shaped him is the biblical emphasis on mercy and grace. As he puts it, “Those who have been touched by God’s grace should live by grace and show it to others.” That conviction is not only shaping his ministry but also his family life. Recently, he and his wife adopted two vulnerable children and have welcomed them into their home.
Yuri is just one example of many students in ABI who are being equipped for Gospel ministry in Central Asia. Please pray for all the students. May God continue to use these dedicated servants for the good of others and the glory of His name.
