SGA-sponsored missionary pastor, Mihai Chidesa, has been on a roller coaster journey with his family over the past few months.
After the fifth round of chemotherapy, his wife Felicia started to feel very unwell. She now has had eight sessions of chemotherapy which will be followed by surgery at the end of this month [May]. In this huge trial Mihai could say, ‘But glory be to the Lord, who does not leave us and who is with us every moment and in every aspect of our lives.’
While the trials have been difficult to bear, God has helped them triumph. A huge encouragement was the conversion of two people and another five preparing for baptism.
God has opened another door of Gospel opportunity – something that Mihai confesses he felt totally inadequate to fulfil. He had no experience in this field. He was invited by a TV station to broadcast twice a week. While he considered this invitation, he felt more and more that, added to his wife’s illness, this was beyond his ability.
However, with the encouragement of a friend who pointed out that this was an opportunity of a lifetime, the “Good News for All” programme has commenced, broadcasting each Saturday and Sunday.
The presentation aims to share the concepts of the Gospel in simple language, and at the same time bring a challenge to the viewers. Mihai has just completed the series entitled “I AM”, in which the seven affirmations of the Saviour were approached in an evangelistic manner. After that, another series of presentations entitled ‘Transformed Lives’ was presented, in which people from various social categories were invited to share their testimonies.
This Christian programme is attracting the largest number of viewers on this TV channel! Mihai would very quickly acknowledge that this is not due to his abilities, but to God, who is reaching people in this spiritually barren region of Romania with the Gospel.
Pray that this unique Gospel opportunity on a secular channel will remain open, and that Mihai and his team will be guided by the Lord as they prepare weekly programmes. Pray that the financial resources necessary for its continuation will be available.
