On Sunday, the 6th of March, during refugees’ evacuation in Irpin, Russian occupants inflicted a mortar attack on those trying to escape.
A 26-year-old volunteer, Anatolii Berezhnyi, a member of the local Baptist church, was killed. That morning Anatolii was helping a woman with two children to get across a broken bridge and move to a waiting bus, which would drive people out of the danger zone.
Tragically a Russian mine exploded close to Anatolii, killing him and those he was trying to bring to safety. He and his wife were actively involved in faithfully serving the Lord in Irpin Bible Church.
When the war started, Anatolii drove his wife to a safe place, but came back to Irpin to serve the church, the civilian population, and refugees.
Unfortunately, as the sad tale of this war unfolds many more will have similar stories. There is devastation and destruction in many cities and towns across Ukraine.
Pray that God will comfort the many who are sorrowing, and bring healing to the injured, and strength to His people to keep serving.
