We are grateful to all who support Gospel ministry in Far East Russia as our partners take the Gospel to many unreached villages in this region.
Given the diverse number of people groups, the vast geographical area, and the predominance of paganism, there remain many villages and towns that have yet to hear the Gospel. We thank God for the 11 missionary pastors sponsored by SGA partners in the UK and Ireland. God has been blessing their efforts in the Gospel.
Over the summer months 50 camps were conducted, where 228 children came to faith in Christ. Of these 216 have commenced Sunday school.
Pastor Benjamin, who oversees the missionary work of churches in the Far East shares:
“Our main priority is to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ and reach the places where the Word of God has not been preached and continue to bring it where it is already spreading. Our churches travel to villages and towns with a mission.”
Benjamin
The challenge is that many of these villages and towns are only accessible by aircraft. Praise God that there are now two planes in Khabarovsk and one in Yakutia.
Michael and his flight team recently visited the remote village of Agzu, east of Khabarovsk, in the mountains near the coast, where they conducted a children’s programme for 25 children. It is about 1.5 hour flight and only accessible by air.
Michael also travelled to the Jewish Autonomous Oblast to assist Rostislav, an SGA sponsored missionary pastor. Rostislav has 115 villages in his region which have not heard the Gospel. He has been to twenty of them now but needs help. Through aviation, missionary pastors can reach these remote villages.
In the next year, the goal is to increase the frequency of flights allowing missionaries to reach even further into the interior of Far East Russia.
Praise God for His blessings!
However, recent news from Far East Russia has been disturbing and heart-breaking. The repercussions of the war in Ukraine have begun to touch this region, and the Kremlin’s plan to mobilize huge numbers of additional military is bringing anxiety and uncertainty to many.
Pray for our missionary families and all who are caught up in this uncertainty, fear, and stress.
