Joy of Christmas

The Joy of Christmas box contains small gifts of toys and sweets which delight children everywhere. For many of these children, this is their only gift and it brings such joy.

However, the illustrations and writing on the box itself tell the story of a greater joy to be experienced and as they are distributed, there is a precious opportunity to tell of Jesus and His gift of salvation to many who have never heard.

The Joy of Christmas project is life-changing!

Alona, a 9-year-old girl, has faced a challenging childhood due to her mother’s alcoholism, forcing her grandmother to take on caregiving responsibilities for Alona and her siblings. Although living modestly, Alona grows up to be empathetic and helps around the house. She attends a children’s programme organised by the church, where she finds a sense of belonging and warmth missing from her home life. Receiving a Christmas gift this year filled Alona with joy, symbolizing that someone cares for her.

Timur is a 24-year-old young man, who suffers from cerebral palsy and mental challenges. He lives with his mother, who struggles to provide due to their financial hardships. Despite his circumstances, Timur is a warm-hearted individual who delights in visits from church members, eagerly anticipating Christmas when he receives gifts. His joyful demeanour and affection for his collection of teddy bears showcase his innocence and desire for connection. Timur’s mother greatly appreciates the church’s ongoing support, which not only brings happiness to Timur but also aids against their struggles, reaffirming that they are not alone.
