Reaching the next
generation for Christ

The Reason

for Camps

For many years SGA has been supporting church-based camps for children and young people.

While these have been occasions when friendships are forged and much fun and laughter is enjoyed, camp is an opportunity for young lives to be impacted by the Gospel message.

This ministry, which spans Europe and Asia, reaches children from a variety of backgrounds. Many are from poor and disadvantaged families, with challenging home situations, unfamiliar with the Gospel. During their time at camp, in a safe and loving environment, the message of Hope can be shared.

In Mongolia, over half of the 330 children who attended camps organised by local churches came from Buddhist families.

In Moldova and Ukraine up to 85% of children attending camps are from non-Christian homes.

The Results

of Camp Ministry

Each year many children respond to the faithful teaching of God’s Word and trust in Christ to be their Saviour.

“A classmate invited me to a Christian camp where I heard about Jesus for the first time and believed in Him. Since then I have been attending church. My family believes in Buddha and does not support my faith in Christ, which makes me feel alone among my relatives. What I like most about camp is that people talk freely about God here – you don’t have to hide your belief in Jesus or hide your Bible from anyone.”

Ukraine

“Camp is a small island of joy and safety where they can feel the happiness that only Jesus can give. Seeing how the ministry heals wounded children’s hearts, you realise that this form of evangelism must be continued.”

80%

One Moldovan church leader estimates that 80% of young people who are baptised in their churches repented and believed during Christian camps.

Churches

Strengthened

Many pastors, missionaries and church leaders today, testify to having first heard the Gospel at camp. Churches are witnessing the growth and development of faith in their young people as they engage as leaders at camps.

Vadim

Moldova

“Camp is a great blessing to us and we are already seeing its fruits. The number of children in Sunday School has increased and parents and grandparents began attending various evangelistic events. In my opinion, this is one of the most import ministries a church can do.”

To homes

Many parents attend the camps during the week or at the end when there is a special outreach event. In this way they are hearing the Good News of Salvation for themselves.

To Communities

Relationships are being built and further opportunities are being given to the local church to evangelise their neighbours throughout the whole year.

The Reach

OF Camp MINISTRY

The camps are run by local churches so the Gospel work does not stop with the children at camp. God is opening doors for further evangelism.

Will you help us share the Gospel with boys and girls?

Pray...

  • That those who prepare and plan camp programmes will know God’s help and wisdom.
  • That those who attend will be converted to Christ, strengthened in their faith, and motivated to serve the Lord.
  • That the Gospel opportunities created as a result of camps will lead to many trusting Christ as Saviour.
