A date that Nataliya Demchuk will never forget is the 16th March 2022 - for as well as being the date of her fifth wedding anniversary, it was also the day that her husband was enlisted.
Eager to help defend his country, Serhii readily embarked on three months training, after which he was deployed to Lysychansk, a town at the very centre of the war with Russia.
Some weeks later he had a few precious days of leave, ones which proved to be the last he would ever spend with his family. On 22nd August 2022 Serhii died, having sustained fatal injuries while involved in active combat in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
Now, despite her own poor health, his widow who is supported by SGA, continues to serve as she supports other grieving women, while at the same time, raising two young children on her own.
