During a recent visit to Ukraine, which offered an opportunity to spend time with partners and SGA-sponsored missionaries, one could feel a palpable confidence in the Gospel and its power to transform lives.
While the consequences of the war have hardened the hearts of some, leaving them angry and unable to accept the existence of a God of love, others have had their hearts softened to considering spiritual matters more and are increasingly open to the Gospel.
As we approach four years since the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, our partners are focused more than ever on the Lord’s final command to the church, to bring the Gospel to the whole world. Although there are many challenging circumstances, our brothers and sisters are dedicated and determined to grasp this Gospel opportunity.
The SGA team had the privilege of participating in a Leaders’ Conference where 450 faithful servants of the Lord gathered for equipping and encouragement (see image below). Reports were shared of almost 90 new church plants. Over the past year, churches have launched 140 new groups with non-churched people, with half of them aimed at forming new church plants. On top of this is the ordination of around 950 new preachers, and this is only information from SGA’s partners in the Baptist Union. God is doing so much more!
So then, despite the war, the Gospel continues to advance – people are being saved, and believers are taking courageous steps of faith as they accept God’s call on their lives. Praise God that even in these darkest of days, God is building His church and that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
