Peter has now purchased a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan hybrid. The vehicle is in excellent condition, and its extra height and ground clearance make travelling much easier on the difficult roads throughout the villages. It is also very economical on fuel.
The Tiguan has a rechargeable battery, allowing Peter to travel approximately 40 kilometres on electric power before the hybrid system takes over. This is especially valuable at a time when fuel prices have increased because of the war in Iran. In Moldova, diesel has become particularly difficult and expensive to obtain. With the harvest season underway, much of the available diesel is being purchased for agricultural use, and some fuel stations have limited supplies.
His previous vehicle was 14 years old and had travelled approximately 250,000 kilometres. The poor condition of many rural roads had taken its toll. Peter often had to drive in second or third gear because of the rough terrain, causing the engine to work at much higher revolutions than it would on a motorway. Eventually, the engine became badly worn, while other components required significant repairs and replacement.
The new vehicle is therefore a tremendous provision—not simply for convenience, but for the ministry God has entrusted to Peter. Like the previous vehicle, it will be used to travel to villages, encourage missionaries, visit churches, and share in the work of the Gospel.
