As our dream of building the Integrated Palliative Care Centre begins to take shape, we are full of gratitude to the partners who have supported us with funds, helping us to raise this building to its current stage.
Now we are preparing for the next stage of the work which includes electrical and sanitary installation, and the interior and exterior finishing of the building. We want to operate as soon as possible in the new location with community services for adults and children, outpatient and support services for families during bereavement.
Emanuel Hospice is the second palliative care service established in Romania in 1996, with the aim to improve the quality of life for people diagnosed with advanced cancer who have been discharged from Oncology Clinic and are at home, without curative care. The services are provided free of charge.
In 2023, the clinical team made a difference in the lives of 283 adult oncological patients and 52 children with life-threatening illnesses, making over 10,800 visits to their homes in urban and rural environments, to provide specialized palliative care services.
This update written by Marinela Rotariu, Executive Director, outlines the vision for Emanuel Hospice. SGA teams have witnessed first-hand this dedicated team who not only seek to alleviate pain and offer a dignified death, but more importantly share the Gospel with their patients. This special team is bringing comfort to the broken hearted, hope to the hopeless and peace to the troubled. With your faithful giving, SGA is supporting the completion of this amazing project.
