Moldova Responds

Our friends in Moldova deeply appreciate SGA standing with them in these difficult times.
The Bălțata Christian Centre in Moldova is receiving and caring for up to 200 Ukrainian refugee families at a time. Donations through SGA to the Ukraine Crisis go to support this and other humanitarian projects.

Our friends in Moldova deeply appreciate SGA standing with them in these difficult times. Peter Mihalchiuk, SGA’s Regional Representative in the country, expressed thanks for the faithful prayers of God’s people, and reports that they were able recently to help many people with various needs.

He explained about the mental, physical, and spiritual work with refugees, as many people are depressed, cannot sleep, and request anti-depressants. He went on to relate how a woman came with her children.

She said:

I need a mediator to resolve one issue with God. She admitted that she considers herself Orthodox, but her priest was not around and therefore she asked me to help her. Her conscience torments her and she cannot sleep. She takes strong drugs for depression. Her father died about a year ago. He called her several times and wanted to talk to her before he died. Tatyana did not want to talk to him because she was offended as he divorced her mother. And after his death, she could not find peace. No anti-depressants help her anymore, and on top of that there is the war. I explained the Gospel to her. She was very surprised when she learned that she did not need a mediator, and that she could personally pray to the Lord. We prayed with her. She promised to attend the services of our church.

Peter went on to outline materials that are needed: warm clothes for refugees, bedding, medicines, food, firewood for families who receive refugees, and refuelling for those who carry refugees in their personal vehicles.

Pray that God’s people in this country, the economically poorest in Europe, will experience the Lord’s strength, wisdom, and provision as they reach out to refugees.
