It was a humbling experience to sit in a small room listening to the accounts shared from three dedicated missionaries in Central Asia.
Their stories of God’s saving grace were gripping, and their transformations were miraculous. Ismoil [*name changed], an SGA sponsored missionary shared his testimony and told us about God at work among Muslim people.
Ismoil was a radical Muslim who was in the mosque every day. For 12 years he rebelled against his Christian family. He felt unclean to eat with them, so he spent all his time in the mosque. His sister witnessed to him and told him about God’s salvation. His immediate reaction was a desire to cut her head off.
But then something amazing happened! Suddenly he felt his need to repent and come to faith in Jesus. After this miraculous intervention, he wanted to tell everyone. Then his wife was converted and they began missionary work.
God has blessed their labours! Today there are 80 converted Muslims in his church. The special police service [KGB] are intimidating him. Recently he told his congregation that they need to be prepared for arrests for their faith in Jesus.
Ismoil shared about an unevangelized Arab group which he contacted 2 years ago. They were totally ignorant of the Gospel and had not heard anything like this before. God began to work by His Spirit and a breakthrough came with the conversion of 2 brothers and their wives.
Recently the 4 new converts were baptized. They have already experienced some persecution as they were issued with fines because of their faith.
It was thrilling to hear that 20 new converts from Islam were baptized a few weeks ago. God is working in Central Asia. Other accounts will be shared in future Inside Story editions.
