The city of Ola in Far East Russia is an extremely long way away. After years of prayer and preparation, believers there have welcomed those who will undertake the long-awaited construction of a new House of Prayer and Hope Centre.
Due to the region’s challenging weather conditions, building work can only be undertaken during a few short months of the year. With the timely provision of funds through SGA, it is hoped that the new facilities will be available for use by September.
This is all the more remarkable given how many Christians in Ola lost their lives in the Gulags that existed here – the notorious penal camps of the former Soviet Union where believers were once imprisoned for their faith.
Today, as a result of the Gospel’s ongoing proclamation, something that will continue all the more when the new buildings are completed, there remains a sure and certain hope for this extremely remote part of the world.
Pray for safety for all those involved in the construction, for good weather to allow the work to take place, and pray for the church in Ola, that as believers serve the people of that city, many would come to genuine faith in Jesus Christ.
