This summer, SGA sent a team of seven to be a part of a children’s camp that took place in Ruptawa, Poland. It soon became apparent that God had brought together a team perfectly equipped with the necessary mix of gifts required for the camp to run smoothly.
Furthermore, alongside the sporting, craft, and musical expertise that the team individually contributed, each member had a genuine desire to share something of the love of Christ with those whom they felt privileged to serve.
But the point of the camp wasn’t simply to entertain the 36 five-to-twelve-year-olds who attended the six days of activities.
The team with our Polish friends
The team enjoyed working together as one with their Polish brothers and sisters, clearly presenting the Gospel to the children. The Polish team was responsible for the hour-long meeting that took place each morning, while the SGA team shared more of Jesus in another hour-long meeting each evening through the singing of Christian songs, the memorising of Bible verses, and the teaching attached to stories from both the Old and New Testaments.
It was wonderful to see the children respond so enthusiastically to what they were being taught and to see some as young as six desperate to be chosen to say grace and then, in a packed but respectfully silent dining hall, say a genuine thank you to God for all that He had provided.
Bible times and fun & games
Pray that the children and their families will come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
