The Kyrgyz Bible Project
God’s Word in the Mother Tongue
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.” The absolute necessity of knowing God as He has revealed Himself to us in His Word cannot be overstated. Having the Gospel available in our mother tongue is essential if the truth about Jesus is to be fully understood and planted deeply in the hearts of those who read it.
SGA, in partnership with Bible Mission, seeks to ensure that the Bible is accessible to as many people as possible in the countries we serve. Faithful translations have already been published and distributed in Kazakhstan, and the first-ever gospel literature in the language of the Pamir people was recently completed and is being shared by churches and missionaries supported by SGA.
In Kyrgyzstan, God’s Word is entering homes once in the grip of Islam. The Bible is considered a “holy book,” and many are open to learning more about its teachings. We are delighted to report that SGA’s Kyrgyz Bible Project successfully raised half of the £300,000 needed to publish and distribute 30,000 Bible sets, with the remainder provided by Bible Mission. Churches across Kyrgyzstan are distributing these sets to people who have never heard the Gospel before.
Each Bible set contains a book of 100 Gospel narratives – especially suited for children or those new to the Christian faith – along with one complete Bible in the Kyrgyz language.
Please pray that the Holy Spirit will open blind eyes and that many Kyrgyz people will come to a living, personal faith through hearing the Word of Christ.
