The Need

The aim of SGA is to train and equip national Christians to reach new communities, plant new churches, and see new converts won for Christ through the preaching of the Gospel.

Romania Baptism 1For this to happen in the economically deprived areas of Eastern Europe, it soon became clear that this commitment would have to include financial support of church planters, pastors and other Christian workers for a period of time. We have done this by developing relationships with a network of churches and individuals in the UK & Ireland who commit to sponsor these dedicated servants of God. This is a partnership the Lord has been blessing in remarkable ways.

Partnership in Practice

One example of a successful partnership is the relationship that exists with David Chidesa in Ukraine. David can best be described as a gifted evangelist and pioneer who has plans to plant an extensive network of new churches in areas where there is no evangelical witness. David has already planted 3 new churches but has a vision to plant a total of 19 in these needy areas.

David Chidessa 2011SGA has entered into partnership with David in very practical ways. We have provided funds to complete a church building and a vehicle to get to the distant locations associated with his crucial ministry. In addition we have organized relationships with a number of churches and individuals who have committed to pray for David and financially support him in his ministry. Through good times and bad this partnership has been a source of strength and encouragement for David. This is leadership support in action and with the Lord’s blessing we desire to help more men in the same type of ministry.

FAQ

How does the scheme work?

Churches or individuals commit to sponsor a particular worker at an agreed rate for an agreed period of time. During this time they will receive regular reports to keep them informed and enable them to pray more intelligently for their partner.

Do I have to sponsor a leader on my own?

No. Although each national worker’s support level varies from £30 - £200 per month, a number of churches and individuals can share the cost of sponsorship. This is an arrangement we can organize for you. Every contribution helps and is deeply appreciated.

How long do I have to commit my support?

We can come to an agreement on this. However, in our initial discussions we normally ask a sponsor to commit to offer support for a minimum of 2 years. This arrangement is then reviewed on a yearly basis.
